Approximately 300-400 vigorous clumps... on exposed granitic outcrops created during the construction of Lake Jocassee dam in 1968-1970. The area is known as "The Wall" & is a 10-40 m high quarry of granitic rock. The material removed from the mountainside was utilized in the construction of the dam. The entire hill & face of the mountain was denuded with no natural vegetation left during construction, & the site can be seen during the opening minutes of the movie Deliverance for a better idea of the scale of disturbance. Plants are located in vegetation mats & fissures in the rock face on west & southwest-facing exposures
