Off of Interstate 20E around Lindale, ca. 2 mi W of Lavender Rd. exit 350, roadside, in sandy soils; assoc. w/ Cnidosculus texanus, Monarda punctata, Heterotheca, Croton, Prunus angustifolius?, Quercus falcata, Ulmus alata, Lactuca canadensis, Juniperus virginiana, Diodia teres, Yucca filamentosa, Warrea, plants to 20 cm tall, forming large patches, glochids yellow, spines short and small, to 3/areole, but most plants spineless. 32.46811°N 95.35284°W.
