Locality: United States, Florida, Palm Beach, United States: Florida: Palm Beach County. Tree approx. 6 m. tall, trunk 4 m., heavily ringed with dark spines which are 2.5-7 cm. long; fronds 2.4 m. long, armed with brownish-black spines the length of the rachis, pinnae 5 dm. long x 2.5 cm. wide at mid-section; infl. 75 cm. long with outer covering of main spathe distinctly furry in texture, and a dense tuft of dark brown spines on spathe tip, pedical of spadix armed, spadix much branched, bearing staminate & pistillate fls.; fr. oval with furry, brown integument; cultivated; Island Landscape Co., 1100 So. Blvd., West Palm Beach.
