Very long heterogenous fen with marked spots of high diversity and other large weedy zones. Fen elevated on norther and southern margins and depressed near central lakes (2). Bordered on north by woodland as well as on southern edge, but southern edge has a railroad and nearby row-crop agriculture. Typhaspp. appear to be heavily impacting fen. High quality species lingering in shrub encroached swath on northern edge of prairie fen. Common trees/shrubs include Larix laricina, Toxicodendron vernix, Betula pumila, Cornus foemina, Frangula alnus, and Dasiphora fruticosa. Ground hummocky with extensive Sphagnum layer. Herbaceous species include Solidago gigantea, S. altissima. Carex stricta, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Solidago patula, and Thelypteris palustris. Ground very moist.
