Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Woody area dominated by Typha latifolia and Lythrum salicaria. Shrubs in area include Toxicodendron vernix and Salix spp. Ground wet and barely inundated; hummocky; other common species include Thelypteris palustris, Eutrochium maculatum, Carex stricta, Phalaris arundinacea, Symphyotrichum firmum, and Impatiens capensis.
