Associated Species: Fouquieria splendens, Cercidium microphyllum, Opuntia chlorotica, Lycium berlandieri, Larrea tridentata, Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa, Ferocactus cylindraceus, F. wislizenii, Galium stellatum, Astrolepis cochisensis, Selaginella, Parthenium incanum.
Notes: Local, occasional, single, flower stalk 3.5 m, inflorescence with 13 branches; bracts from 4 feet up stalk; ovary, neck, tube light green, tepal lobes yellow, becoming darker towards apices, filaments light yellow-green, anthers yellow, style light yellow-green; flower measurements after Gentry (1982), during anthesis, in mm, tl=46, o=21x7, n=3, tu=8.2x14, fil ins=5, 6.2, fil=43, a=11.5, outer tepal 15.5x7(base), 5(mid), inner tepal 15x7(base), 5.5(mid), both erect, clasping filaments, sty=24.
