USA, Arizona, Maricopa County, Tonto National Forest, north-facing slope east of FS 404, 0.4 mile south of the junction of Bartlett Dam and Horseshoe Dam Roads
Scattered along slope. Small shrub to 50 cm, erect and sometimes spreading. Florets with bilbiate purple corollas, 1 cm long and across. Exserted staminal tube to 5 mm above corolla, yellow with purple above. Anthers dehisce inside the tube; white pollen emerges from terminal pore, pushed out by the style. Stigma then emerges from the tube's terminal pore with two spirally recurved white lobes.
