Very long heterogenous fen with marked spots of high diversity and other large weedy zones. Fen elevated on norther and southern margins and depressed near central lakes (2). Bordered on north by woodland as well as on southern edge, but southern edge has a railroad and nearby row-crop agriculture. Typhaspp. appear to be heavily impacting fen. Located in northern portion of fen on edge of shrub encroachment. Soggy quadrat adjacent to high quality fen to the southeast. Toxicodendron vernix, Frangula alnus, and Betula pumila common in area. Carex stricta, C. lasiocarpa, and C. flava also common. Symplocarpus foetidus common in shrubbier areas.
Flowers -cones; short stalked at tip; rounded.Scattered; about 1-2 stems per 1-2 sq. m for 20 sq. m; fertile; about 20-35 cm tall; growing with Symplocarpus foetidus and Carex stricta.
