United States, Michigan, Hillsdale, Little Goose Creek Grasslands
Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Shrub encroached area in southern portion of prairie fen; shrubs include Frangula alnus, Betula pumila, and Cornus sericea. Fingers of healthier prairie fen run through shrub encroachment; healthy areas include Dasiphora fruticosa, Pycnanthemum virginicum, Solidago ohioensis, Valeriana eburnea, and Andropogon gerardii. Ground moist but not wet; quadrat located on game trail.
