Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Alternate point chose due to shrub-encroached original (>50% shrubs cover). About 3m south of 10m tall Juniperus sp.; small opening among shrubs; shrubs include Toxicodendron vernix; Cornus spp., Dasiphora fruticosa, Frangula alnus, and some trees including Sambucus sp. Ground not very wet, but moist.
