Associates, still sterile, included, in addition to unidentified graminoids, several dicots: Boehmeria cylindrica, Ludwigia sp. Bacopa caroliniana, Galium tinctorium, and on drier ground, Verbena brasiliensis.
Upper and floating lvs. obovate to spatulate; submersed or lower ones linear. Plants generally light green. Some characteristics of the fls. (pistillate only, were noted) are as follows: ovary or frl light yellow-green, somewhat heart-shpaed, the lobes rounded on their edges; frs. thickest between middle and base, about as broad as long; styles (2) whitish, about 2 mm. long.
Several thick patches in water. Largest patch about two feet in diameter. Repl. 8.
