Locality: USA, Texas, Hudspeth, Abundant locally near Interstate Hwy. 10, ca. 10 mi. WNW Sierra Blanca, Hudspeth Co., Tex. (Trans-Pecos Veg. Area). In sand and gravel (creosote-bush scrub in general vicinity).
Habitat: In sand and gravel (creosote-bush scrub in general vicinity).
Description: Flowerheads yellow. LVS. pale dull green (many obliquely to vertically borne). Plants with broadly moundlike or subglobose habit; many stems, decumbent to erect, becoming woody toward rootâ€"crown, and mostly of a pale straw color. Hgts. to 3 ft.; wdths. to ca. 5 ft. (Comment: occasional lvs. as much as 5 mm. broad.)
