Habitat: Sand bottoms in 0-2 meters. Common assoc.: (Chara sp.) muskgrass, (Potamogeton gramineus) variable pondweed, (Myriophyllum tenellum) dwarf water milfoil, (Juncus pelocarpus) brown-fruited rush, (Eleocharis palustris) creeping spikerush, (Najas flexilis) bushy pondweed, (Schoenoplectus acutus) hardstem bulrush.
Notes: Almost excusively located on the southern shore where it formed dense carpets with other "Isoetid" associates.
