Habitat: On "bare" gravelly alluvium in unshaded, frequently scoured and reworked bed of nearly perennial spring-fed stream. Banks lined intermittently with Populus fremontii. Associates in gravel included Astragalus austrinus, A. wootonii, Baileya multiradiata, Brickellia laciniata, Chilopsis linearis, Chloracantha spinosa, Cynodon dactylon, Dyssodia pentachaeta, Maurandya antirrhiniflora, Mentzelia sp., Mimosa sp., Nerisyrenia camporum, Oligomeris linifolia, Physaria sp., Salix sp., Senecio Riddellii, Xanthium strumarium. Rare.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
