Habitat: Occasional in "prairie" grassland on shallow stony clay loam on gentle slope on upper part of rolling landscape underlain by Cretaceous Limestone. Associates include Ambrosia psilostachya, Aristida purpurea, Centaurea americana, Dalea aurea, Houstonia nigricans, Penstemon cobaea, Schizachyrium scoparium, Stenosiphon linifolius, Stillingia texana.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
