Habitat: Rare in herbaceous vegetation and stump sprouts in broad hunting sendero cut through mixed-stature thornscrub on clayey soils on gently undulating upland underlain by Miocene strata of the Frio Formation. Associates include Abutilon incanum, Acacia berlandieri, A. rigidula, A. schaffneri, Acleisanthes obtusa, Ambrosia confertiflora, Aristida purpurea, Cenchrus spinifex, Chamaesyce serpens, Chloris cucullata, Clematis drummondii, Croton lindheimerianus, Desmanthus virgatus, Ditaxis humilis, Dyssodia tenuiloba, Guaiacum angustifolium, Kallstroemia parviflora., Leptochloa filiformis, Lantana macropoda, Lycium berlandieri, Mollugo verticillata, Nyctaginea capitata, Prosopis glandulosa, Sida abutifolia, Talinum aurantiacum, Tidestroemia lanuginosa.
Reproductive Condition: fruiting=late
