Habitat: Local in strip of evergreen-deciduous forest on mesic rubble slope at base of tall N-facing cliff of Edwards Limestone just above contact with Glen Rose Limestone. Principal associates include Adiantum capillus-veneris, Aquilegia canadensis, Arisaema dracontium, Aristolochia serpentaria, Asplenium resiliens, Carex edwardsiana, Chasmanthium latifolium, Cheilanthes alabamensis, Clematis texensis, Eupatorium rugosum, Fraxinus texensis, Galium sp., Garrya lindheimeri, Juglans major, Juniperus ashei, Lindera benzoin, Morus microphylla, Parietaria pensylvanica, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Pellaea atropurpurea, Prunus serotina ssp. eximia, Quercus buckleyi, Q. laceyi, Q. muhlenbergii, Scutellaria ovata, Senecio obovatus, Tilia americana, Tinantia anomala, Ungnadia speciosa, Verbesina virginica.
Reproductive Condition: flowering=early
