Habitat: Common in wet spots in partial shade of live oak along edge of young motte surrounded by coastal prairie, on loamy soils on +/- level landscape underlain by Lissie Formation. Associates include Acacia smallii, Cynodon dactylon, Ilex decidua, Oplismenus hirtellus, Panicum hians, Quercus virginiana, Rhynchospora indianolensis, Sida rhombifolia, Smilax bona-nox, Sporobolus indicus Tillandsia recurvata, and Toxicodendron radicans.
Reproductive Condition: fruiting=late
