Habitat: Common in shortgrass grassland dotted with Nolina texana and a few other shrubs, on low ridge of reddish brown igneous stone and rock. Associates include Aristida sp., Asclepias scaposa, Astragalus mollissimus var. marcidus, Berberis trifoliolata, Bouteloua gracilis, Calylophus hartwegii, Chamaesyce fendleri, C. lata, Croton pottsii, Cryptantha sp., Dalea frutescens, Krameria ramosissima, Lesquerella fendleri, Linum puberulum, Machaeranthera spp., Oenothera albicaulis, Penstemon fendleri, Rhus microphylla, Tetraneuris scaposa, Thelesperma ambiguum, Zinnia grandiflora.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
