Habitat: Frequent in pine-oak-juniper woodland on steep rocky rhyolite talus slope below palisade rimrock wall. Associates include Pinus cembroides, Juniperus deppeana, Quercus grisea, Q. emoryi, Nolina texana, Garrya wrightii, Agave sp., Rhus virens.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
