Habitat: Specimen from several trees. Pinyon-juniper-oak woodland. Associated plants: J. deppeana, J. flaccida, Rhus virens, Agave chisoensis. Height: 10-20 ft. Common, dominant. Seeds thick-shelled. Crown rounded and spreading, becoming irregular. Bark dark gray, rough, furrowed into scaly plates, becoming thick. Needles 3 and 2.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
