Locality: United States, Texas, Val Verde, Amistad National Recreation Area: Canyon 74 across from Rio Grande Buoy 28. Sample plot no. 74. Box Canyon Quad (1:24,000).
Habitat: Gravelly (limestone) silty bench above small intermittent drainage in former inundation zone; mesquite woodland with purple threeawn, Lindheimer pricklypear, frogfruit, and Texas thistle. With Aristida purpurea var. purpurea, Opuntia engelmannia var. lindheimeri, Prosopis glandulosa, Cirsium texanum, and Phyla nodiflora. Rare perennial to 50 cm. Corolla golden yellow.
