Habitat: Associates include Quercus grisea, scattered Q. puncens var. vaseyana, Juniperus, Acacia neovernicosa, A. constricta, Yucca torreyi, Nolina tex., Adolphia, Opuntia lindheimeri, O. imbricata, Rhus trilobata, Bouteloua curtipendula, Verbesina, and Muhlenbergia emersleyi. Decumbent perennial herb. Fls orange-red outside, yellow inside. Fairly common among boulders w. Bouteloua, Dasylirion, and Erigeron.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
