Rare here, a few plants in deep, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline fine sandy loam (Willamar Series) along edge of mesquite woodland on gently undulating landscape of Holocene sand sheet over Goliad Formation. Associates include Aphanostephus skirrhobasis, Brachiaria ciliatissima, Chloris cucullata, Eragrostis secundiflora, Helenium linifolium, Herissantia crispa, Pennisetum, Prosopis glandulosa, Schrankia sp., Senecio ampullaceus, Zanthoxylum fagara.
