Habitat: Rare in light-colored sandy mineral soil among light gray igneous rock on gentle slope of low rocky hill supporting open shrubland. Yucca elata and Ephedra sp. dominant on slope; Larrea tridentata and Parthenium incanum dominant on flat top. Other associates include Condalia ericoides, Croton pottsii, Dalea formosa, Dyschoriste decumbens, Dyssodia acerosa, Eriogonum abertianum, Euphorbia lata, E. revoluta, Hilaria swallenii, Lesquerella fendleri, Melampodium leucanthum, Nolina texana, Prosopis glandulosa var. torreyana, Psilostrophe tagetina, Tiquilia canescens, Verbena neomexicana, and Zinnia grandiflora.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
