Locality: United States, Texas, Presidio, W side of main road on Hip-O ranch Preserve (TNC). 0.6 -0.7 mi. N of gate at railroad track, ca. 5-6 airmiles WNW of Marfa. Marfa Quadrangle. Elev. 4920 ft.
Habitat: Common, co-dominant with Parthenium incanum on flat top of low hill light gray igneous rock. Associates include Condalia ericoides, Croton pottsii, Dalea formosa, Dyschoriste decumbens, Dyssodia acerosa, Eriogonum abertianum, Euphorbia lata, E. revoluta, Hilaria swallenii, Lesquerella fendleri, Malampodium leucanthum, Nolina texana, Prosopis glandulosa var. torreyana, Psilostrophe tagetina, Tiquilia canescens, Verbena neomexicana, and Zinnia grandiflora.
Phenology: flowering + fruiting=mid
