Habitat: Frequent in sparse vegetation in eroding soil over exposed claystone or sandstone of Antlers Sand formation, very steep N to W facing slope. Assoc. include: Chamaesyce fendleri var. fendleri, Hedyotis nigricans, Dalea frutescens, Schizachyrium scoparium, Ceanothus herbaceus, Juniperus ashei, Quercus buckleyi, Bouteloua pectinata.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruting=mid
