Bayou bank, ca. 10 mi. from & 2 mi. above water. Dark, brown clay with very abundant shells. This sp. - Celtis laev. - Ulmus crass. complex. Shrub 1.5 m. Bas. diam. 2 cm. Sparingly branched. Corollas violet, anthers orange. Bark blotchy gray, smooth. Foliage has rank, soapy odor when crushed.
