Habitat: In partial shade of Populus angustifolius, Pinus ponderosa, Juniperus scopulorum, Pinus edulis on floodplain of riparian corridor along river; closest associates include Ribes leptanthum, Maianthemum stellatum, Geranium caespitosum; flowers bright red, throated white streaked within, one stamen exerted beyond orifice; occasional but widespread.
Substrate: Quaternary terrace deposits derived from surrounding Precambrian granite hills and Tertiary intrusive volcanic rock
