Habitat: Meadow of Bouteloua gracilis-Muhlenbergia montana-Festuca arizonica-Blepharoneuron tricholepis bordering Pinus ponderosa forest on brown volcanic andesite soil with 30-40% cover of bare rock.
Associated Species: Amauriopsis dissecta, Linaria dalmatica, Cosmos parviflorus, Elymus elymoides, Verbascum thapsus, Plantago, Linum
Description: Awns with retrorse barbs, rays usually pink, occasionally yellow. Locally common.
