Description: Common on both sides of road, cloning, leaves green, flower stalk ca 6-3/4 m tall, 86 mm in diameter at eye level, lateral branches 25, down 6/10 of stalk, perpendicular-ascending, largest branch ca 40 cm long, yellow flowered form as common as purple-maroon form, ovary, neck, tube light glaucous-chartreuse, tepal lobes yellow, the outer lobes with conspicuous brown tip, filaments light yellow-chartreuse flushed with maroon, style light yellow(-chartreuse); tube bulbous, lobes wilting/reflexed pre and during anthesis, not clasping, ovary, tube, neck moderately angled, filaments flat, channeled; measurements after Gentry (1982) in mm, beginning anther dehiscence: tl=72, o=39x10, n=5, tu=14(l) x 12(w), outer tepal=18x5.5(base), 3.5(mid), inner tepal=15x5.5(base), 3.5(mid), fil ins=7, fil=57, a=21, sty=60; tl=76, o=40x10.5, n=5, tu=13(l) x 14(w), outer tepal=17x6.5(base), 3.5(mid), inner tepal=16x6(base), 3.5(mid), fil ins=6.5, 7, fil=58, a=20, sty=59; some stalks in population down, terminal branches of lateral branches and flowers snipped/chewed apparently by animals.
